Unit 4  A good read

Comic strip & Welcome to the unit

1. Analysis of target students(学情分析):

As the target students are from Class 6, Grade 8 in our school, I am quite familiar with their English study. They prefer more vivid and interesting class atmosphere, so I try my best to stimulate their interest in English learning, and I also offer them a video and many interesting pictures in class. In this way, they could focus their attention on the English lessons and make much progress.

2. Analysis of teaching materials(教材分析):

The content of this lesson is about “A good read”, which is a new topic in this edition of teaching materials. Reading is very helpful and beneficial to us students, and it is a fact that our school built a new library, so that students are offered a good chance to read what they like. I firmly believe that this topic could attract their interest.

3. Teaching aims(教学目标):

By the end of the lesson, students are able to

(1) Knowledge aims: learn about names of different kinds of books;

(2) Ability aims: talk about what they like and why they like them in English;

(3) Emotion aims: stimulate students’ interest in reading books.

4. Teaching importance(教学重点):

  Learn about names of different kinds of books.

5. Teaching difficulty(教学难点):

  Talk about what they like and why they like them in English.

6. Teaching approaches(教学方法):

Teacher & Students interactive approach, Students-centered approach.

   Watch a short video about “the joy of books”.
